Raccoons

Today was a bright, sunshiny day - a nice change from all the rain. I took time to fill all the feeders and tried to tidy the yard a bit. I need to get more rain guards for some of the feeders; the seeds are just getting soaked in all this rain. The birds and squirrels were so active that I actually filled the feeders twice today - that's a bit unusual for me; the second filling was about 4:00 pm, rather late in the day, but I knew that it would hold over until tomorrow morning and that's when the birds are most active anyway.

When Monty (hubby) went out to smoke later in the evening, we had visitors - raccoons - two HUGE ones. They were really enjoying all the goodies I left for the birds and squirrels. They were having quite a feast. I tried to take pictures because I thought they were so cute (although I kept my distance). But it was so dark I didn't get any usable shots. I haven't quite figured out this new camera yet, I know there is a setting for night pictures, but I didn't have time to figure out the setting before they ambled away. I hope they come back! We haven't seen any raccoons here for quite a while - we have a regular 'possum visitor and a badger that comes occassionally, but we haven't seen the raccoons for a long time.
