Raccoons

Today was a bright, sunshiny day - a nice change from all the rain. I took time to fill all the feeders and tried to tidy the yard a bit. I need to get more rain guards for some of the feeders; the seeds are just getting soaked in all this rain. The birds and squirrels were so active that I actually filled the feeders twice today - that's a bit unusual for me; the second filling was about 4:00 pm, rather late in the day, but I knew that it would hold over until tomorrow morning and that's when the birds are most active anyway. Stormy Day

It's another wild and wet stormy day in the Pacific Northwest. The poor birds and squirrels in my backyard look miserable; they are all very, very wet with droopy feathers and matted down fur. Poor babies. For some reason there are always more birds when the weather is nasty like this. There has been much activity all day long - almost frenzied. And much fighting over feeders which is so funny because it's not like I don't have plenty of feeders - at last count there are about 30 different feeders scattered throughout the yard of one kind or another: suet, tube, hummingbird, peanut, corn cob, etc. Something for everyone - no need to be greedy, but they ...
