New Computer
I have a new computer, bigger, better, faster than my old, 7 or 8 year old computer with Windows 98. I am happy to be upgrading; I have been somewhat frustrated with the old computer. On the other hand, I am QUITE frustrated with the new computer. I ... (read more)

Be Careful What You Wish For
Remember the adage, be careful what you wish for, you might get it. We complained about the rain; wanted it to go away and guess what? It did. And since then we've had snow and icy cold weather for days and we don't like it one little bit. I'd take ... (read more)

More Snowy Day
The little hummer stayed near the feeder all day today. He chased all the other hummers away; I hope they had another source for food because he was VERY territorial and wasn't sharing! However, it was very cold and the feeder kept trying to ... (read more)

The Snowy Day
The little hummer made it through another cold night - he was here bright and early for his breakfast. Unfortunately, the sugar-water froze during the night and he just buzzed around and finally lit on a branch til I figured out what the problem ... (read more)

Snow, snow go away . . .
Today was beautiful and sunshiny and I thought all the snow would melt. It was cold but the snow seemed to be melting. I went out and cleaned the snow off of all the feeders, dumped out all the wet seeds and put out fresh and I spread plenty on the ... (read more)

SNOW!!
We had snow today! We don't get a lot of snow here in Seattle, and usually not this early in the year, so I was surprised to wake up to snow this morning. The snow was predicted for higher elevations, but that usually passes us by. The poor birds ... (read more)

Wild Weather
We had some wild weather yesterday which I happened to get caught in while driving home on I-5 from a doctor visit. We had torrential rain, wind, thunder, lightning and HAIL. It was not fun driving in that. We so seldom get thunder and lightning ... (read more)

Squirrel Proof Planters
More rain again today - when will it ever stop? At least yesterday we had periods of sunshine. I had time to finish planting all my tulip bulbs. I had to invent a way to keep the squirrels out of my pots, but still allow the bulbs to receive light ... (read more)

Rain, Rain Go Away
We are about to break a record for the most rain ever recorded in a single month - EVER! Even those of us born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and who love the rain are tired of all this rain. We just want it to stop and go away. This morning ... (read more)

Squirrel-Go-Round
The squirrels have stolen one of the arms of the Squirrel-Go-Round corn feeder. I went to Wild Birds Unlimited where Monty purchased the feeder and asked if they could sell me a replacement arm. They explained that although they used to be able to ... (read more)

Raccoons
Today was a bright, sunshiny day - a nice change from all the rain. I took time to fill all the feeders and tried to tidy the yard a bit. I need to get more rain guards for some of the feeders; the seeds are just getting soaked in all this rain. The ... (read more)

Stormy Day
It's another wild and wet stormy day in the Pacific Northwest. The poor birds and squirrels in my backyard look miserable; they are all very, very wet with droopy feathers and matted down fur. Poor babies. For some reason there are always more ... (read more)
